The Black Project Surge Texcarbon is the best option for surfing. Regular Surge is a lightweight & strong paddle but this Texcarbon version is a step up. Black Project made this paddle focused on paddlers’ specific needs in the surf. The result is a paddle which bites the water & accelerates quickly to help you catch the best sets (& get out of the impact zone). If you do get caught by the set of the day, then don’t worry the Surge is built to take a pounding yet from 350 grams is the lightest surf paddle on the market. For example a Surge 82 (M) cut to 178 cms is only 385 grs.

The 82, 77 & 72 feature the reduced diameter shaft for increased comfort while the 87 uses the regular shaft for larger riders. The Surge will help you to catch more waves & rip them harder. Due to its power, light-weight & RDS shaft the Surge has become extremely popular for SUP foiling. For 2019 Black Project has introduced the new Texcarbon construction which is the lightest and strongest construction yet, while the new finer texture offers enhanced grip.

The Surge blade has a little more power to cope with highly oxygenated white water which offers less resistance. On entry the Surge blade is designed to correct poor alignment often associated with fatigue and injury. The proprietary Scooped Dihedral shaping holds the water securely through the power phase of the stroke generating a smooth and controlled power delivery. Lateral blade movement is eliminated and the toe shaping provides an efficient release. The extension of the tapered scoop towards the toe ensures that the paddle remains stable and delivers power even if you fail to get the full blade in the water, which is common if you are scrambling to make it over the set or paddling on a small and unstable SUP surf board. The shallow 8° blade angle promotes an aggressive paddle stroke and slightly shorter overall paddle lengths. A slight ridge along the front of the blade increases paddle stiffness both vertically and laterally while adding increased strength. It has smoothed out all edges to increase safety while surfing, increase strength and reduce board damage.

The lightweight 100% carbon surf T handle is fitted to the palm of your hand for comfort, the bright red color will stand out in the surf in case you get separated and the flat front of the handle will instantly ensure the correct orientation.
