Limited Series
The goal was to create a new look that was clearly recognisable as Starboard, but more in line with the traditional surf culture, and injected with innovation. Limited to only ever 2 colours, the white and black design is minimal and clean, yet full of detail when you touch and feel the intricate pad structure and textures.
The honeycomb pad structure makes this design truly stand out. Not only does it look unique and benefits from a reduction in weight from a full pad, Starboards believes it offers one of the best grips they have ever used. The small gaps between the pads give you multiple corners to wedge your feet against, providing the rider additional grip and more control to drive the board harder through turns. The diamond grooving is incredibly secure under foot, combining the corduroy wings allowing the rider to feel when they are close to the tail of the board.
In line with the timeless design, the Limited Series graphic will not change on an annual basis, to create a consistent and classic following. The Limited Series is available in the main ranges: Wedge, Pro, Longboard and Hyper Nut. At a price point under Starlite, Starboard anticipates the Limited Series will fast become a best-selling construction.
Starboard wanted the construction to be offered at a very competitive price point, while maintaining solid performance in the surf, without sacrificing the weight or strength. To achieve a great value, they developed the Lite Tech construction and added several extra reinforcements to increase the overall strength, while keeping the weight low.
Twin T-stringers made from glass fibre are positioned on the deck and bottom of the board close to the rail, providing a massive increase in the overall strength against total breakage in surf. An additional wide layer of 200 grs glass wraps the rails for higher strength against paddle impact, and further reinforces the overall strength against buckling.
The deck features reinforced biaxial glass and Australian pine, to resist heal dents and impact from the standing area. The nose and tail are wrapped in multiple layers of glass fiber for further strength on these impact zones.
The construction has been approved after testing in Portugal, Israel and Thailand, combining a wide range of conditions in wave types and climate differences.
