KEY FEATURES OF THE STARBOARD SPICE 2025:
1. SPEED, POWER AND FLOW: From bevelled thin rails, wing tail, concave bottom shape, the design elements that make up this board work in harmony, giving you a ride that syncs speed, power and flow.2. UNIQUE BEVELLED RAIL: The unique bevelled rail shape makes turning both responsive and easy. The slightest foot pressure and the board just rolls in the direction you want to go. The rails are super fine both in the nose and tail, reducing the swing weight through your turns and giving you direct response when applying pressure on the rail.
3. BEVELLED RAIL: OFFERS 3 DISTINCT FEATURES: The bevelled rail creates a narrower planning area, helping to generate more speed and acceleration down the line. The angle of the bevel helps you toll the rail effortlessly, making the board very responsive to pump on the wave face and sink through carving turns. The bevel creates a thinner more pinched rail so you don’t have to apply as much foot pressure to initiate turns.
4. FULL NOSE OUTLINE: Provides stability and extends the rail line for faster speed.
5. POINTED NOSE TIP: Pierces through waves and reduces swing weight through turns.
6. THIN TAPERED RAIL PROFILE NOSE: Helps reduce swing weight from the nose to enhance manoeuvrability and speed through turns.
7. PARALLEL MID-SECTION: Helps engage the rail for good speed down the line.
8. SLIGHT DOMED DECK: Helps keep rails fine and gives enough float in the centre buoyancy of the board.
9. THICKER MIDSECTION: Provides float and carries speed down the line and momentum through smaller surf.
10. ROCKER: The smooth rocker has a gradual nose and tail kick, offering the right combination of paddle speed and manoeuvrability. The nose rocker prevents the nose-diving when getting into waves and from catching through turns, while the tail rocker helps lift the nose to pivot.
11. BOTTOM SHAPE: Single concave provides lift and speed, feeding through to a double midsection and slight vee at the tail to manoeuvre and rock from rail to rail.
12. WING TAIL: Creates a break in the rail line, maintaining stability forwards, while narrowing behind the wing to offer much more manoeuvrability.
13. OPTIMISED TAPERING AT THE TAIL: For maximum response, bite and control when stepping back.
14. ROUND PIN TAIL: Offers good drive and hold in bigger surf, yet good stability and manoeuvrability. The round pin complements the looseness generated from the wing tail.
15. FIVE FIN OPTION: Allows for quad, thruster and twin fin with small centre nubster. You can choose your preferred fin set up based on riding style and wave conditions. The angles of the fins are updated, with more outward splay on the front fins for greater manoeuvrability with less angle in the rear for greater drive through turns. All models are supplied with a quad set up with 4.7 front and 4.5 rears. Except 10’3″ is supplied with a thruster set up with 170 center and 4.7 front.
16. BOARD SOCK: Reduces paper waste while protecting your board from dust, scratches, and UV damage. Made with stretchable polyester, it fits various board shapes. Ensure optimal board maintenance with the iconic blue Board Sock, featuring a secure drawstring closure.
These are the different sizes:
- 7’4″ x 27″: Specifically designed for riders weighing up to 85 kg, this board offers unrivalled surfing performance. The length allows for seamless turns without nose-catching, while the 27” width enables fast and explosive maneuvers. Ideal for those seeking additional volume over the 6’9” without compromising high-performance riding, this model is a must-have addition for many.
- 7'11"x 29”: The 7’11” is a lot of fun and full of surprises! The length makes you perform radical turns and fit tight in the critical section of the waves without the nose catching. At 29″, the width gives you enough float without hindering speed or manoeuvrability.
- 8'2"x 30.75”:The 8’2″ was Trevor Tunnington’s favourite model during the development in Portugal. This size is easy to paddle yet reacts on a dime from the thin bevelled rails. Fast, Stable and on point, the performance defies its size.
- 8'8"x32": This board is sure to be a favourite among riders that want to save energy and maximise surf time. Long enough to get you into waves, yet compact for you to whip around and fit into sections without your nose catching through turns.
- 9'3"x32.75": Designed to be the most stable option for heavier riders between 100-130 kg. The length glides easily when catching waves and gives you good speed to quickly paddle back out to catch another ride. This board gives you ultra-stable ride.
- 10'3"x32.75": The new larger offering from the Spice range to offer entry level paddlers the chance to jump into a truly great performing model straight away. The 10’3” suits larger riders, and includes the bevelled rails for excellent drive and speed down the line. A more dedicated SUP surf mode with good cruising capabilities. The large Spice delivers excellent surfing performance without any stability loss. Ideal for larger riders looking for a longer surf specific design.
