Finally, the Red Paddle Co staff revealed the secret and they presented the new and revolutionary Red Paddle Co Compact 9’6”. We must confess that our first thought about the board was -ok, a new board, what’s the special thing?!- And now, that we know it better, we can say that the whole board is really special, because it is the first inflatable board that you can bend occupying the half of the space of the regular inflatable boards.
A new revolution in inflatable SUP boards
When we knew about the new Red Paddle Co 9'6'' Compact a few questions come to our mind: how does it bend? how is the backpack? where do we store the paddle? shall it be stiffness as the Ride? All these questions -and more- were answered when the first Compact arrive to the shop, and we could check how good is this new paddle board that remains all the best of the other Red Paddle Co models, reducing the space to the half thanks to the engineering and design solutions that the I+D team of the brand applied on the board.The next though was about the people who can benefit with this board. We know that many times the space and Stand Up Paddle are not easy to join, but this new board is perfect for those with small flats or condos for vacations, pairs and families who now have more space in the car to go to the beach or the lake with all that they want to bring. Imagine that you want to make a car trip with your pair or friend through the coast in a small rental car, now you can bring two boards with you without problems.
The new Compact is a true revolution in the world of SUP and it opens a way for newness related to the space of the board and how store it. After 10 years making the best inflatable boards -it is the opinion for a lot of people working around SUP- they have still innovating and developing new products as this Compact, with the new Pact technology. Without doubts, the Compact is the easier paddle board to transport, of the world.
Red Paddle Compact technology
This makes an extra stiff and thinner board at the same time when it is inflated, and it can be folded in the minimal space when we deflate the board. To make easy the deflate and bend process the central line of the board has been “cleaned”. The leash ring was moved to the right, and the air valve to the left. The central handle is now in the left side of the board and the central fin has been removed from its place to leave the area free for bending the board.
Measures and features of the Compact
The Red Paddle Co Compact has a length of 9’6” (289.5 cms) and a width of 32” (81.3 cm). The thickness is 12 cm (4.7”) the same as the famous Ride, so the board has a volume of 222 liters that are enough to support 95 kg of weight, and more, depending on the skills of the rider.When we open the backpack, we can see the central handle for an easy transport when the board is full of air. It has a deck net with 6 anchor points, two stringers from the nose to the tail to give extra stiffness to the board, a special pad designed for this model that is divided in two big areas, one of them has the Red Paddle Co logo and the other one, has a diamond cut for extra grip.
The special design of the board joined to the placement of the elements (valve, handle and leash ring) form like a hinge to make easy the action of bending to store the board in the Compact backpack, a new and smaller backpack to keep the board inside with all its complements, giving a full weight for the pack of 12.7 kgs.

Compact backpack
The backpack is highly engineered to offer unique levels of adjustability and comfort, plus incredible shoulder and back support. It is the most highly engineered SUP bag on the planet, and as it applies approximately 53% less downforce on the carrier’s lower back, you can travel for longer in comfort. With customisable lumbar support and adjustable height features, it’s suitable for almost any size of paddler. And it doesn’t stop there, it has tubular closed cell padding on the handles, concentrated shoulder padding, brushed cotton shoulder and back cushioning and adjustable shoulder straps.
All these combine to make it a pleasure to carry, whether you’re on a short walk to the water or off on an epic adventure. The measures of the backpack are 56 cm of length, 42 cm of width and 28 of thickness, so if you compare it with a regular inflatable SUP board backpack, with a standard size of 95x50x40 cms, the new Compact backpack is almost a half of a traditional one.
New Red Paddle 5 Pieces paddle
No doubt create a compact paddle to keep in the backpack with the board has been a challenge for the guys of Red Paddle Co. Create a removable paddle in small pieces, which provides adequate rigidity for paddle surfing and at the same time not exceed the weight, has not been an easy task, but they have found the perfect solution: the new 5 pieces paddle.
This paddle is made of carbon HM for greater stiffness, with a resistant blade of pure nylon, laser engraved, without printing or transfers. Thus, the design remains unchanged despite use.The pieces are assembled with each other in the perfect way thanks to the anti-torsion adjustment system with the 45 degree pressure plug technology, obtaining an adjustable height that allows sharing or adapting to sea conditions thanks to the Lever Lock system. The backpack has adjustable straps to place each piece in its place when you disassemble the paddle.
It is adjustable between 180 and 203 cms and if you want to use with kids you just only need to remove the central piece and you will have an adjustable paddle from 140 to 163 cm. Just put on the fins and start paddling.
The fins
In the first view of the bottom of the board you surely put the attention on the dearth of central fin. It has been removed to make easy the bending and store of the board. To replace the effect of the central fin in the direction of the board, Red Paddle Co has redesigned the side fins. Even the fins have been redesigned and are only available with the new 9’6”Compact, they use a simple click fin system with a secondary screw for added security. The two off set fin boxes themselves are also compatible with standard FCS fins, so you can customise the feel of your board on the water.
Titan Air Pump
The staff of Red Paddle had to make room in the new compact bag for the best air pump that we know. It completes the package perfectly. The Titan Pump is so efficient and well designed that you will be on the water in no time, thanks to the double chamber that make the pumping faster than other air pump.
