Code Foils

Code Foils

Code Foils was born as a project among a group of friends and foiling enthusiasts—Marcus, Ben, Dan, and Jimmy—who turned their shared passion into an innovative foil brand. The company’s roots lie in the longstanding relationship between Marcus and Jimmy, who over a decade ago began collaborating on board design, excelling in open-water challenges and refining their expertise in high-performance equipment. The team solidified with the addition of Ben, Marcus’s brother, and Dan, an architect with 20 years of CAD/CAM design experience. From a makeshift workshop in Dan’s garage, where they set up a CNC machine, to factory production, they worked together on prototypes, fine-tuning designs with materials like G10, evolving from homemade experiments to competitive foils.

The name “Code Foils” emerged spontaneously, and its orange color scheme reflects influences from the Australian desert and Formula 1 aesthetics, symbolizing their view of foiling as a design arms race. All four directors—experienced foilers who have completed the grueling Molokai to Oahu race—provide a direct and efficient feedback loop in design and testing. Their breakthrough came in Hawaii, where prototypes like the 860R proved their worth in races such as Maui to Molokai and Molokai to Oahu, with Jimmy winning the latter thanks to its versatility. What started as a serendipitous collaboration among friends, united by their love for downwind runs and decades of experience, has grown into a brand that blends ingenuity, technical expertise, and an unrelenting pursuit of foiling excellence, catering to everyone from beginners to elite competitors.
