KT Back Wing Negative Shim Set

The KT Rear Wing Negative Angle Shim Set is an adjustment accessory for the stabilizer (rear wing / tail wing) of KT foils. These negative shims increase the negative angle of attack of the rear wing (lowering the leading edge or raising the trailing edge, depending on mounting), which generally reduces pressure on the front foot, improves glide, increases speed, and makes the foil feel looser and more reactive.
They are ideal when you are looking for more speed, less pumping effort, or when your current setup has too much “nose dive” or excessive pressure on the front leg.
The pack includes 5 negative shims with different angles: -0.5° / -1.0° / -1.5° / -2.0° / -2.5°.
These shims are placed between the fuselage and the tail wing. To know which shim is ideal for your KT foil, simply use this easy formula: Front Wing Value + Mast Value = Recommended Shim.
Each front wing has a number printed on it (e.g.: -1, 0, +1, etc.) and each mast also has a printed value (e.g.: -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1, etc.). Add these two numbers together and the result tells you exactly which shim to use.
Practical examples:
- Front Wing Atlas 790 → value -1 & 85 cm mast → value +0.5 → -1 + 0.5 = -0.5 → Use -0.5° shim
- Front Wing Nomad 980 → value 0 & 77 cm mast → value 0 → 0 + 0 = 0 → Use 0.0° shim
- Front Wing Atlas 1130 (large) → value +1 & short mast → value -0.5 → +1 - 0.5 = +0.5 → Use +0.5° shim
