The Tsurugi translates high-cadence racing philosophy into a more forgiving platform. Designed with slightly lower volume in the nose and tail for greater control, it maintains efficient glide and quick acceleration while providing a smoother, more balanced ride for intermediate and heavier riders.
Starboard Tsurugi Features:
- NARROW BOX TAIL™: Patented design by Takuji Araki, Shrimpy's father, this unique tail lifts the board and drives it forward, allowing efficient pumping while maintaining great straight-line stability.
- FURTHER BACK STANCE: Standing area positioned further back to optimize trim (longitudinal balance) and make the most of the Box Tail™, helping generate forward propulsion.
- VERY SHARP RAILS AT THE TAIL: Designed by Takuji Araki, these sharp rails in the tail section act as additional fins, enhancing tracking and reducing reliance on the main fin.
- SHARP, PENETRATING NOSE: Inspired by the katana sword, this sharp nose cuts through water and chop, maintaining speed and control even at high stroke cadences.
- DUGOUT DESIGN: This design lowers the center of gravity, increasing stability and improving control in bumpy open water conditions.
- DUAL SIDE DRAINAGE HOLES: Quickly evacuate water from the deck, allowing fast recovery in technical or choppy conditions.
- REFINED ROCKER PROFILE: A slightly flatter rocker at the bow and stern compared to the All Star model, combined with a more pronounced V-shape to maintain glide and maneuverability.
- PARALLEL OUTLINE FOR SPEED: The parallel midsection enhances stability and glide, while the narrow nose and tail increase paddling speed and efficiency.
- MULTI-STAGE V-BOTTOM: The rounded V-shaped nose facilitates easy gliding into bumps. The midsection V with a light double concave improves tracking, while the progressive V at the tail assists in buoy turns and maneuvers.
