Information
The BRM Kanaha parawing offers exceptional stability for upwind and downwind navigation. It combines a moderately high aspect ratio for maximum upwind speed with ultra-short lines for rapid retraction.
BRM parawings are designed with a radical philosophy of simplicity, efficiency, and direct connection, aiming for the wing to feel like a natural extension of the rider’s body. Their design is based on the “less is more” principle, eliminating components deemed unnecessary to achieve a purer experience and superior performance.
The most distinctive feature of the BRM parawing is what it DOES NOT have, and every absence is justified by a performance benefit:
In short, the BRM parawing is aimed at riders seeking the purest, most direct, and minimalist experience possible. It sacrifices common elements (like windows and handles) to gain lightness, intuitive control, durability, efficiency, and superior wave performance. It’s a wing that forces you to feel the wind and connect directly with your gear.
The parawing includes the wing, wing bag, and duffel bag.

- No handles: Instead of handles, the rider grips the central rib directly. This provides a direct and intuitive connection, allowing instant power control, immediate depowering, and perfect balance. The feel is far more direct than with traditional handles.
- No windows: Windows are a weak point in many wings, adding weight, degrading under sunlight (becoming opaque), stretching differently from the rest of the canopy, and creating a false sense of security. BRM’s philosophy is that riders should develop spatial awareness and “feel” their surroundings rather than rely on limited visibility.
- No boom: Eliminating the boom drastically reduces weight, complexity, and the risk of impacts with the rider or board. This contributes to the parawing’s lightweight and simple feel.
- No battens: The absence of battens (rigid rods) reduces weight and failure points. More importantly, it allows the wing to behave more naturally and efficiently when wave riding, floating without resistance and remaining neutral when the rider harnesses the wave’s energy.
Key features of the BRM Kanaha parawing:
- V-LOAD STRAPS: Strategically placed straps on the leading edge that connect to the central rib. Their function is to distribute tension from the rider’s hands across the entire canopy. This is crucial to prevent canopy deformation under pressure, maintaining a perfect aerodynamic profile, immediate response, and a solid structure.
- FULL SPAN CANOPY: The canopy extends from tip to tip of the wing. This provides a solid feel across the entire span, improves stability, and enhances aerodynamic efficiency, as the entire surface works to generate power.
- PARAWING DESIGN (Inspired by paragliders): The overall design draws its “DNA” from paragliders, known for their high efficiency. This translates into a wing that is very light in the hands, predictable, stable, and with exceptional “drift” (neutral flotation) capability, making it ideal for wave riding.
- Moderately higher aspect ratio optimized for maximum upwind speed.
- Super short lines for rapid retraction.
- 7-panel lightweight and durable canopy and a 25 cm carbon bar for an ultra-compact pack.
- Sheathed lines optimized for strength and to minimize tangling.
- Color-coded front lines and canopy accents for easy identification.
