Stand Up Paddle inflatable boards make use of a manufacturing process called drop-stitch. This technology, which went thorugh a major breakthrough in the last years, consists of linking several plastic layers with internal threads which allow for a hollow and highly resistant structure that can withstand high inflation pressure. Many different brands are using this technology, each one adding their own personal touch or improvements.
AST boards are light and resistant due to their EPS core and total fiberglass coating.
They have a wooden layer, for even more resistance in the stance area.
Roto-molding or rotational molding is a process for manufacturing plastic products by introducing a liquid or dust polymer inside a mould which turns between two perpendicular axes and makes the plastic adhere to its surface, creating hollow pieces. It is used in boat production due to its extreme rigidity and sturdiness.
Boards with AST Candy technology are made with a light EPS core tech, combined with fiberglass and epoxy resin layers. The difference between Candy 2014 technology and 2013 is that the color palette is pink and white.
